Meme of 3 Things

I have been tagged by the very creative Trupti, the adventurous cook Seema and Mythreyee, a very talented painter and cook, for this meme. Here goes!

Three things that scare me:
1. Bugs
2. Death
3. Darkness

Three people who make me laugh:
1. My 5 month old!
2. Laurel & Hardy
3. Mehmood

Three things I love:
1. My Family
2. Food!
3. Life!

Three things I hate:
1. Lies & deceit
2. Interfering busybodies
3. Rudeness

Three things I don’t understand:
1. War
2. Unnecessary nastiness
3. Why they churn those never ending melodramas on Zee/Sony TV. Very unrealistic storylines and the garish makeup on the womenfolk in these serials is enough to paint the rest of the female population on earth a few times over!

Three things on my desk:
1. Phone
2. Camera
3. Right now, my cat, Ginger

Three things I’m doing right now:
1. Typing this
2. Cooking Sheela Pulao
3. Hoping M sleeps for a while longer, while I finish typing this!

Three things I want to do before I die:
1. Travel the world! At least where there's no civil unrest/war. That probably brings down drastically the number of places I can visit!
2. Learn another language. I started learning German when I was about 12, along with my cousin Vikranth. It was so much fun! But of course, being young and having the attention span of a gnat, our interest dwindled in no time and we stopped. Maybe I should try German again. Hmmm..
3. Write and publish a book

Three things I can do:
1. Cat whistle!
2. Play the veena (I haven't done that in years now but I hope to change that soon)
3. Eat shrimp and crabmeat! (New for me coz I always disliked seafood because of the smell. But 2 days ago, we went to Bone Fish Grill and had something called Bang Bang shrimp that tasted so good! Got adventurous and tried crab cake too! And actually liked it this time! I'd tried it once before and I got that dreaded smell then. But not this time. It was so good!)

Three things you should listen to:
1. Good music
2. Positive talk
3. Your heart

Three things you should never listen to:
1. Bad advice
2. Politicians during their election campaigns
3. Negative/unconstructive criticism

Three things I’d like to learn:
1. To swim (I have such a fear of drowning that I cannot go into water higher than my knee! Forget dunking my head under water! I think learning swimming would help but honestly, I don't think I'll last longer than a day in swimming classes!)
2. To be as calm and unruffled as my nephew, PK
3. More about Hinduism. Not in the religious sense but more about Hindu philosophy.

Three favourite foods:
1. Pad Thai
2. Onion & Potato Huli
3. Akki Rotti

Three beverages I drink regularly:
1. Coffee
2. Tea
3. Water, of course!

Three TV shows/Books I watched/read as a kid:
1. Enid Blyton's books, of course! Especially loved her school series.
2. Grimm's Fairy Tales
3. Target, a children's magazine

Three people I would like to tag...
1. Johanna of Tropical Vegetarian Family
2. Nee of Nee's Nook
3. Nandita of Saffron Trail
(Ladies, take up this tag only if you want to and whenever you can.)

Dear Vani, it is quite interesting and nice to know about you. Once you go into the water, your fear will vanish. Just give a try. Good exercise (Swimming). Appreciate that you pursue your hobbies inspite of having a small child. It is always a pleasure to read your writeup. Viji

Seema- thank you for tagging me! I had fun doing this meme. I'm glad I have company as far as fear of drowning goes! :)

Trupti- thanks! Fear of water too? Love the fact that I'm in good company with that! Love Mehmood-esp his Tamilian Hindi! Thanks for tagging me T and for your lovely wishes! :)

Sandeepa- yeah, Mallory Towers and St. Clare's! I had forgotten the names of the schools. They were just so much fun, na? Target was a really good kids' mag, wasn't it? I wonder is they still publish it.

Thank you, dear Viji! I should learn swimming. Apart from vanquishing my fear, it will also be good aerobic exercise! :)

Coffee- thanks! Hey, you're learning Japanese, huh? Is it tough? This meme indeed gives a glimpse of the blogger. Loved writing this :)

Lakshmik- thanks. One of the sopas is of Zee is on right now. I believe it has great viewership and that's why they keep coming up with one after another ridiculous soaps. But it gets kinda addictive too!

Asha- Someby else told me the same thing- that seafood cooked right does not give that smell. Looking forward to your crabcake recipe! :)

Swapna- Going by your comment, I would not think that you would need to work on your english at all! It is really good! :)

Insei- welcome & thank you! I do drink beer sometimes but I don't particularly relish it, like I used to. Do come by again! :)

Hey Vani the magazine target reminded of my school days.I used to read that magazine too!Howz your little one doing,do post her pics too!

Vani said...

Sumitha- Target was one neat magazine, wasn't it? I'd read the book cover to cover in a day!
Little M is fine. She tried to rollover a few weeks agao and was successful too. But since then, she has decided that it's too much effort and doesn't bother to even turn to the side, forget rolling! :) Will post some of her pix soon. Thanks for enquiring, Sumi! :)

Hey Vani, enjoyed reading your meme.Do continue to play the veena once you start it,because even to appreciate music is a gift and many people just don't have it.I love music but regret always not ahving gotten the chance to learn it more..(I learnt only the basic in vocals). And I love your comment on the Zee/Sony tv serials and their gaudy looking actors.agree with you completely there.:)

Vani said...

Vini- Thanks for your lovely comment! I hope to stick with playing the veena and playing it regularly. Have you thought of learning more vocal music?
Yeah, Zee/Sony women are heavily made up even if the scene is for sleeping! No realism at all!

I love your blog Vani- you always have something out-of-the ordinary!
You said you would like to play the veena. Its one of the best hobbies to have I think! I have often wondered if you can get one that may be disassembled and reassembled- I miss playing it among other things that I miss about home!

Hi Sucharita- Nice to know you play veena too! Yeah, I wish it could be brought here in smaller pieces and reassembled here. That would be nice!
