Rava Rotti

This recipe was in my pending list and happened to be an "R" recipe, co-inciding with Nupur's alphabet of the week. So here is my entry for "R" of A-Z of Indian Vegetables. Thank you, Nupur, for hosting this very interesting event! I always look forward to your weekly round-ups! This recipe here is my mil's for a Konkani breakfast made with rava, called Doddak.

1 Cup Rava
1 tbsp wheat flour
3 Tbsp Coconut
1/2 tsp Ginger, grated
2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
1 tsp sugar
2 Tbsp oil
Salt to taste

Mix all ingredients together with water to form a slightly stiff dough. Let rest for at least 20 minutes. Pat a small portion of the dough on a greased tava. Cook until slightly browned, on a medium low flame. Flip and cook the other side until slightly crisp and/or browned. Here I have served Doddak with ginger pickle and yogurt. Goes well with a spicy coconut chutney or sambar.
