Sia's Menthe Chutney for T&T

Tried & Tasted ia an event hosted by Zlamushka, who's blog is a one-stop-shop for recipes from all over the world. Each month she features a blog that she invites everybody to try & taste dishes from. This month happens to be my friend, Sia's. Sia is an artist who creates wonderful dishes and showcases them in pictures that are to-die-for. I've tried a few of her recipes and they have all been wonderful. For this event, I tried her Menthe Chutney, which was delicious with plain rice & ghee. I even used is as a spead in a sandwich and it was so good! Thanks for the wonderful recipe, Sup and thanks Zlamushka, for hosting this wonderful event!

Coorgi Chicken Pepper Fry & Donate for a Heart

I was very moved by the plight of a 28-year-old mother of two young children, who desperately needs money for a heart surgery that will save her life. Her parents have used up all their resources in her treatments. Details on how you can help can be found here. Hope you can chip in!

The first time I ate chicken was at a restaurant when I was about 10 or so. Did not take too well to it then. Over time though, I've grown to love it in almost all forms. I hardly ever cook chicken at home though. I remember trying to cook it for the first time when I was newly married. I wanted to surprise N (who eats basically anything that moves!) & bought boneless chicken from my grocery store. I could not bring myself to touch the raw meat & ended up wearing plastic gloves in order to cut & cook the chicken! :) Nowadays, I buy roasted or grilled chicken from the store that's good to go! Usually add in sandwiches or salads for a burst of protein & flavor.

When Srilekha announced that chicken was her September Theme of the Month, I got cookin' again! I used the store-bought grilled chicken to prepare Coorg style Chicken Pepper Fry adapted from here. Thanks, Srilekha for choosing chicken as the theme & prodding me to prepare this delicious fry :)

2 chicken breasts grilled & cut into thick pieces
1 onion cut into strips
3-4 green chillies slit lengthwise
1 tbsp oil

1 tsp rice flour
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp ground pepper
2 tbsp water

Grind to paste:
6 cloves garlic
1" ginger
1/2 tsp saunf/fennel seeds
3-4 pods cloves

Mix grilled chicken with the marinade & keep aside for 15 mins. Heat oil. Fry onions until translucent. Add the chicken & fry for a couple minutes. Add the ground paste & green chillies. Mix well. Cover & cook on low heat for 10 mins. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
